Strange lights in the sky, a loud crash in a nearby field and a pungent 'metallic' odor in the air - all the archetypal signs of a close encounter with an extraterrestrial being. However, it wasn't the conventional small grey ETs that awaited the townsfolk of Flatwoods, West Virginia in the fall of 1952.
Before them was an immense humanoid creature clad in a hooded metallic robe and a "blood-red" head with glowing yellow eyes - slowly gliding towards them with outstretched, claw-like appendages.
The Flatwoods Monster is one of the most enigmatic cryptid/ET encounters in American folklore and was officially investigated by the US government as part of the landmark 'Project Bluebook'.
